About the Artist
Jackie Gerten was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Her family moved to
Stillwater, Minnesota when she was a child and it was while living in this
picturesque river town that she developed a love for nature. Jackie's mother, an
avid gardener, shared her knowledge of horticulture and passed along her
enthusiasm for floral arranging and creating beautiful landscapes.
Jackie studied at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and Texas Women's
University in Denton, Texas. She attended art classes at the University of
Minnesota, and more recently at the Edina Art Center in Edina, Minnesota. Throughout the years,
Jackie's career has been in the medical and chiropractic fields. While
dedicated to these healing arts, she sought to express her love of the outdoors
through painting and drawing. In recent years
she began to devote more time to developing her style, and painting watercolor
florals has become her passion. Capturing the vivid colors or the wistfulness of a
particular bloom in a contemporary fashion is the inspiration for her
artwork. Learning from each painting keeps her motivated and excited to start
a new piece.
Jackie currently lives in Chaska, Minnesota, where she gets much of her inspiration from
her own gardens. She has done commissioned paintings and has sold her work to local
professional organizations.
"My accomplishments to this point would not have been possible without every
family member and friend who has encouraged me along this journey." -Jackie
Gerten
